Description

The 75 Hz center-frequency Kauai Beacon source is optimally positioned and currently operational for long-range acoustic observations across the North Pacific Ocean. Since March 2023, sustained efforts have supported broadband transmissions, data acquisition, and time-series analysis aimed at constraining oceanographic models and enhancing forecast accuracy. Ongoing basic research focuses on improving forward modeling by including internal waves effects, characterization of the acoustic channel, and estimating parameters of interest with application to undersea Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT).
