Description

The Multiferroic Group at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) is seeking a highly motivated researcher for a basic and applied research opportunity to carry out and support an innovative program focused on the development and fundamental understanding and physics of magnetoelectric and multiferroic materials. This opportunity emphasizes the advancement of ferromagnetic, and ferroelectric materials, with a specific focus on the fundamental phenomena and application of magnetoelectric and ferroic systems for next-generation sensing, transduction, and magnetic and acoustic sensors. We are looking for a creative scientist to explore materials for power efficiency and energy conversion, prioritizing expertise in the synthesis and characterization of heterostructures and the fabrication of devices utilizing piezoelectric and magnetic architectures. Candidates with experience in microfabrication, magnetics and ferroelectrics micro- and nano-structures design targeting unique multifunctionality are of particular interest as we seek to expand our capabilities in ultra-low-power electronic and opto-electronic devices, logic and sensors. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Materials Science, Engineering, or Physics, with relevant experience in material and/or device design, synthesis, and fabrication. Please note that U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residence status is required for Postdoctoral positions at NRL. Resumes & inquiries should be submitted to: Dr. Peter Finkel    peter.finkel.civ@us.navy.mil
