Description

Analytical and experimental investigations are in progress in the following areas: (1) Artificial Intelligence/Deep Learning for object aquisition, classfication, pose estimation, aim point selection, and tracking with applications to imaging satellites and laser beam control systems; (2) creation of digital twins of adaptive optics testbed and telescope acquisition, tracking and poinitng testbed; (3) acquisition, tracking and pointing of imaging satellites and laser systems; (4) vibration isolation, optical beam jitter control, and active structural control; (5) correction of laser beam and image abberation due to atmospheric turbulence by using adaptive optics; (6) sensing and correction of laser beam abberation due to deep turbulence; and  (7) High Energy Laser Beam Control.

Artifical Intelligence Laboratory has been developed for research in artificial intelligence.  State-of-the-art test beds are available to validate analytical investigation.  Several  laser beam control test beds are operational to do research on acquisition, tracking, and pointing, jitter control, and correction of beam aberration due to atmospheric turbulence using adaptive optics. More detail about the program can be found at http://www.nps.edu/srdc/.
