Description

The research opportunity at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD), China Lake, California will require extensive knowledge in organic synthesis with an emphasis on characterization of intermediates and monomers using NMR, FTIR, RAMAN, GC/MS, MS, HPLC.   Expertise in polymerizing monomers (pyrrole, aniline, thiophene, EDOT) via electrochemical, photopolymerization, and chemical polymerization methods to produce conductive polymers is required. Characterization of conductive polymers using NMR, RAMAN, GPC, DSC, TGA, TMA, AFM, FE-SEM, EDS, XPS, UPS, 4-point probe technique and non-contact Eddy current are recommended.  Formulations based on conductive polymers for spray, brush, spin coating applications onto various substrates for characterization and properties using EIS and CV are encouraged. The researcher will fabricate battery cells for testing, stability and safety properties. The following literature references highlights the research opportunities at the NAWCWD battery program.

Experience Supplement

Postdoctoral awardees will receive an appropriately higher stipend based on the number of years of experience past their PhD.

Additional Benefits

relocation

Awardees who reside more than 50 miles from their host laboratory and remain on tenure for at least six months are eligible for paid relocation to within the vicinity of their host laboratory.
