We conduct studies of spacecraft-space plasma interactions and space plasma physics that include theory, space and laboratory experiments, data analysis, and computer modeling. Our current focus is on spacecraft charging and the performance of high power VLF antennas with the near Earth space environment. Other possible research topics include electric propulsion, momentum coupling in magnetized plasmas; critical velocity ionization phenomenon, ionization and discharge processes, neutral and ionized gas interactions with ambient medium and high-voltage systems. We maintain facilities for computing and scientific visualization, supercomputer access, and multiple vacuum chambers with space plasma simulation capability. Most recently we have concluded the DSX (Demo and Science Experiment) mission, the largest rigid unmanned spacecraft ever, with an 80 m HV electric dipole antenna, opperating at VLF frequency for the purpose of modifying the Earth's radiation belts. We are now planning the next mission. Come join us.
