Description
Single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) have distinct properities depending upon their species (often called "chiralities", and defined by the carbon lattice structure, and denoted by the (n,m) lattice vector) that are enabling intense interest for advanced applications such including as fluorescent biosensors, single-photon sources, spin-selective transport, non-linear optical materials, and high performance digital and analog electronics. Developing and selecting specific SWCNT species for these advanced applications requires knowledge of intrinsic properties and demonstrations of integration. In our efforts, we have invented and advanced processes that allow for isolation of specific (n,m) populations, in some cases even separating left and right-handed lattice twist enantiomers, as well as for precise length separation and separation by filling molecules or defects. In this opportunity we welcome proposals that either pursue continued advancement of a SWCNT relevant separation technology or optical/electrical/physical characterization of intrinsic properties of purified populations by any characterization method.
