Description
Exploiting quantum mechanics to demonstrate devices with revolutionary functionality is an important area of communications research. Interest in distributing entanglement in quantum networks stems from the desire to use non-locaility to achieve revolutionary applications like distributed quantum computing, sensing, and long-baseline astronomy. However, quantum network technologies are far from what will be needed to support these applications. Our research seeks to bring these goals within reach by improving quantum netoworking technologies, like synchronizaiton, network metrology, and stabilization. Experience with quantum optics, single-photon detection, and electronics design and development is greatly beneficial.
